- Mark Ratner has an historical perspective on the field here.
- Emanuel Lörtscher discusses the challenges of making an actual technology out of these systems.
- A variety of experts (including me) weigh in with blurbs about where things are and where they are going.
- Sri Aradhya and Latha Venkataraman present an excellent up-to-date review of the field, emphasizing the evolution of measurements beyond just collecting current-voltage characteristics.
A blog about condensed matter and nanoscale physics. Why should high energy and astro folks have all the fun?

The state of "molecular electronics"
For those interested in the history and current state of "molecular electronics", I refer you to the latest focus issue of Nature Nanotechnology. Good news for those without subscription access - some good articles are available free of charge:
I'm seeing some amazing developments in this field. Take quantum dots for example. They're denser and yet more flexible than pixels and can therefore create much, much more vivid images on your TV screen for example. Some companies are already working on TV screens which incorporate quantum dots. Interesting stuff!
ReplyDeleteAtomic gadgets can be followed back to the mid 1970s1, yet it is just in the previous decade that essential test and hypothetical obstacles have at long last been succeed. Explores different avenues regarding single-atom intersections, for instance, have turned out to be more strong, dependable and reproducible2. In the meantime, hypothetical strategies in view of Green's capacity hypothesis have been produced and have permitted scientists to research the key properties of single atoms under non-harmony conditions.
