Great article. I also enjoyed reading the opinion of Bill Nye which is referenced in the article. I grew up watching Bill Nye. He is one of the reasons I developed a love for science.

It is amazing how profoundly something as little as a tv show can affect a child's life. It makes me very sad to see all the mindless programing on tv that is geared towards children when tv is such a great medium for education.

  2. Anon., what really makes me sad is the junk now being shown on "The Learning Channel" and "The Discovery Channel". Good grief - it would be worthwhile having a channel that just showed old reruns of Mr. Wizard, Nova, Cosmos, The Mechanical Universe, National Geographic specials, and Junkyard Wars. No more ice loggers or ghost hunters or garbage like that!

  3. Yea but don't you go dissin' the Mythbusters. Those guys are the modern "Mr. Wizard." Scientifically, they are usually correct. AND they get to blow stuff up.
