The internet is definitely the best way to keep up with current events. Check here often (look at the link text). (Thanks, Dan.)

    I'm really excited that there's an RSS feed for it. I wonder when it'll get old and I'll end up unsubscribing.

    Earth did indeed implode when the LHC saw first light. Alas, paperwork was routed through France. There will be a delay. The next big mess is 21 December 2012 when Betelgeus goes supernova (outsourced and therefore viable).

    @will

    Read the source code for the page:
    "the first person to ask for an RSS feed gets a free black hole in their junk"

    heh.

  6. If the earth is going to get destroyed, it probably won't be until end of October... perhaps Halloween time. There is only one beam now and it is low energy (or luminosity.. errr I forget).

    So we are not out of the woods yet!!!

  7. Damn. And there I was hoping that the LHC would wipe out the world before I had to start worrying about Hurricane Ike.

  8. I think someone should make a page where there is small black spot in the corner that gets larger with time and eventually sucks the "NO!" into it, leaving nothing but a blank white page. That would be good stuff.
